Covid 19 Cultivation Theory

Covid 19 has caused widespread panic and attention across the United States that led to many people quarantined in their homes. Covid 19 although is a very serious virus that has caused quite a few deaths within the United States, has turned into something more political rather than dangerous. Trump had created a Covid 19 task force, restaurants and bars closed nationwide, and the virus was one of the most important things talked about on the news. With how much influence and fear this virus projects, the numbers of those testing positive are dwindling since Trump made test results be immediately reported to the White House. In Florida alone, Cases went from a whopping 90,000 positive cases to only 11,000 confirmed corona virus cases because of the massive influence of media on people in today’s time. Due to the funding the hospitals receive every time they receive a new corona virus case, it allowed for them lie to the CDC about how many corona viirus cases there were when in reality, they were reporting Pneumonia and flu sickness as positive results for Covid. The long term effects of television have played a significant role in influencing people because of the cultivation tactics it uses to convince people that their source is the only true and factual source when n reality, most of the “facts” are altered in order to fit their specific political beliefs. On top of it, Facebook had removed the original article on the CDC’s lies in order to combat false news and misinformation on its news feed. My Artifact is an article by Politifact on the events between Floridas covid cases and the CDC. I find it really interesting how the media has so much influence that it has the power to completely alter or change in order to recieve the responses they want from people.
